Meet Chris

Chris Clark is a dedicated husband, father of twin boys, and attorney running to represent Missouri’s 4th Senate District.

Dad, Husband, Committed to Public Service

As a dad to young kids, Chris understands firsthand the challenges families face with rising costs of childcare, housing, and everyday essentials like utilities. That’s why he’s running for State Senate — to fight for affordability and opportunity for working families across Missouri.

Chris’s career reflects both his commitment to justice and his dedication to serving the public. He previously served as an assistant circuit attorney in the City of St. Louis, where he prosecuted cases to hold violent offenders accountable and worked to keep neighborhoods safe.

As a prosecutor, he was responsible for investigating and issuing charges on all vehicular homicides committed in the City of St. Louis, providing a unique perspective into what it takes to keep our streets safe.

After prosecuting, Chris served as a law clerk for Hon. M. Douglas Harpool, United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He currently works at a large law firm in St. Louis where he helps businesses, big and small, with complex legal issues. In his spare time, he volunteers his skills as a lawyer to represent St. Louisans facing eviction from their homes.

Before he was a lawyer, he worked in New York at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on programs designed to keep kids out of jail. He also served as a Fulbright scholar in Chile, where he worked with non-profit institutions to lend money to low-income families to start their own small businesses.

Proud Product of Public Schools

Raised by two moms–both educators–in Springfield, Missouri, Chris is a proud product of public schools. Earning scholarships to help offset costs, he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University; a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge as a Rotary scholar; and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

A sixth-generation Missourian, Chris is married to Dr. Amanda Gilbert, a researcher at WashU’s School of Public Health, whose work seeks to reduce chronic disease among women and kids. Chris and Amanda’s home in DeBaliviere Place was severely damaged by the May 16th tornado and remains unlivable. They currently live with their twin sons–Charlie and Ethan–as well as their dog, Ophie, in Clayton. Raised Catholic, Chris and his family are members of Congregation Shaare Emeth in Creve Coeur.

Chris believes government should work for everyday people, not special interests, and he’s committed to making sure Missouri families can thrive without being priced out of their communities. His priorities include ensuring affordability for families, promoting safe streets in our neighborhoods, and elevating public education.

Guided by his values as a husband, dad, and lawyer, Chris Clark is ready to bring a fresh perspective and a strong voice for Missouri families to Jefferson City.
